Diesel Mechanic

Position Details


The Heavy Equipment and Truck Mechanic is responsible for performing major servicing and repairs on company vehicles and heavy equipment, beyond just basic maintenance. These include complete repair of brakes, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and preventative maintenance inspections.

Responsibilities


  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Diagnose problems and repair brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, diesel engines, and electrical problems
  • Perform all aspects of trailer repairs
  • Perform all phases of vehicle repairs
  • Remove, clean, repair, reinstall and adjust all vehicle components
  • Weld equipment as needed
  • Prepare and complete work orders on equipment repair
  • Make service calls as needed
  • Ability to trouble shoot electrical, mechanical, diesel engine problems
  • Experience working on tractor trailers
  • Basic welding skills (Mig and Tig)
  • Ability to understand necessary safety procedures and precautions
  • Intermediate knowledge of hand tools/power tools
  • Must be able to use battery and charging system test equipment
  • Valid Class A CDL with airbrakes endorsement a plus!

Requirements


  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 80 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, slouch or lie for extended periods
  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and heavy equipment
  • Ability to hold air impact tools up to 30 pounds
  • High School Diploma
  • Auto Mechanic
  • Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic
  • Mack Truck experience a plus
